It’s honestly a little surreal to finally talk about this book. These characters and their journey back to one another have had me in an emotional chokehold for a little more than two years now, and while it’s an absolute privilege to get to share them with you, it’s also a little scary for me to let go. Soon the fictional loves of my life will be making their way off my computer and into the hands of readers, and my relationship with them and this book will inevitably change. They will no longer belong to me and only me in the special way they have. They will be yours, dearest readers, and I hope you love them too.
Without further ado… My second novel, SUNK IN LOVE, will be setting sail (hope y’all like the nautical puns because there will be a lot of them) January 27th, 2026 from Berkley Romance.
here’s the official blurb:
A second chance at love sets sail when a couple on the verge of divorce pretend they’re still together for one last family trip, from the author of Wedding Dashers.
Roslyn and Liam met nine years ago and have been the perfect couple ever since. Through every up and down, every milestone—from Liam’s residency to the publication of Roslyn’s debut romance—they’ve been each other’s rocks. Until now.
Pulled apart by the untimely death of Roslyn’s mom and the undertow of grief, they’re now navigating the final wave in their marriage: divorce.
Heartbroken and unsure how to tell her family she’s called it quits with everyone’s favorite son-in-law, Roslyn keeps the impending divorce a secret. But when Roslyn’s grandparents ask if Liam can officiate their vow renewal ceremony aboard a Hawaiian cruise during their annual vacation, Roslyn needs to tell the truth or figure out a way to keep her secret. A week trapped at sea with her ex isn’t ideal, but neither Roslyn nor Liam want to rock the boat, so they concoct a plan—they’ll fake it.
After five years of marriage, they can figure out how to prentend for jungle hikes and mai tais, right? But when reality and make believe starts to blur, and old feelings begin to resurface, Roslyn and Liam have to decide whether it’s sink or swim for their marriage.
Massive thank you to Vikki Chu (who also designed the Wedding Dashers cover!) who did a PERFECT job depicting the will-they-won’t-they + YEARNING vibe between Ros and Liam. And that gorgeous Hawaiian sunset makes me want to sit back with a tropical drink and start perusing airfare.
I know that man is animated, but let me just say he could do anythingggggg to me. And the way Liam is looking at her??? I am on my knees for this 2D man and his slutty little bow tie (and so is Ros, if you know what I mean)
Here’s what you can expect to find in SIL:

One last time for “closure”

Speaking of music, here’s a SIL playlist to set the *mood* before you set sail
While SUNK IN LOVE has hijinks and shenanigans (this is after all a Heather McBreen novel) and of course an HEA (duh), I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you this is a heavier story than my debut, one that centers around a married couple whose hands have been tied by grief, trauma, and the unraveled stitches of old wounds. But I promise there are fun moments too! And kissing! Should I mention this book is spicier than Wedding Dashers????
In many ways, this book feels like a paradigm of my own taste as a reader: a little sad, a little messy, a little angsty, a little horny, a little funny.
If you’d like to preorder (and I really hope you do!) you can do so here or from any independent bookstore you like! A few of my faves are Third Place Books, Invitation Books and The New Romantics. Preorders are superrrrr important, so if you’d like to support the making of horny books like this one, please consider preordering!
Okay that’s all from me!! Talk more soon! And as always, THANK YOU to the power of a zillion to everyone who has read, requested from the library, slid into my DMs, shared, yapped to a friend and posted about Wedding Dashers. Your support means the world to me and I’m endlessly grateful!!
Heather xx
I'm so excited for this!
I can’t wait to get my hands on this! Congrats!
