Hi and welcome! If you signed up for this newsletter months ago and totally forgot about it, same! Well, sort of. Life got in the way and it dipped off my radar, then I didn’t know what to write about! Being perceived is scary! Anyways, I am back and ready to post the first ever edition of The Plot Girl Walk!
Let’s start with The basics:
What’s a plot girl walk? A plot girl walk is a literal walk, jaunt, or stroll engaged in by a non gender specific individual that may include any of the following activities: listening to an audiobook, talking out a plot point with a friend, daydreaming about your book’s plot, or massaging out a plot hole.
There’s no right way to go for a plot girl walk, but personally, it is best enjoyed on a sunny day with an ice cold beverage and a friend who can help you untangle the gnarliest of plot knots all while getting that 10k a day!
What can I hope to get out of this newsletter? The tagline says it all! Book news, updates and typos guaranteed! I’ll try not to clutter up your inbox very often, but if I do it will typically be bookish updates, occasionally fun content (depending on your definition of fun), and/or whatever random shower thoughts I simply MUST share because I am first and foremost an over sharer. But I also am scared of being perceived. It’s a tough circle to square, friends.
Who are you? Honestly great question. Do any of us really know??? But existential crisis aside, I’m Heather McBreen and I write trope-y romcoms usually involving hijinks, travel and finding (or rediscovering!) love along the way.
I live in Seattle, Wa and when I’m not reading or writing books about kissing, I am in an ongoing struggle between wanting to travel the world and never wanting to leave the house.
What’s your debut about?
WEDDING DASHERS is my debut coming from Berkley Romance in early 2025! It’s about two stranded wedding guests––the sister of the bride and the best man––who, after a case of mistaken identity and almost one night stand, must make their way together from London to Ireland in time for the wedding, all while trying to determine if their growing feelings are the real deal or just a distracting detour.
Have you read any great books lately? Why yes I have!
I am currently enjoying the ARC of Danica Nava’s charming, laugh out loud debut, The Truth According to Ember, as well as the audiobook for Forget Me Not by Julie Soto because there is nothing I enjoy more than getting absolutely emotionally wrecked by a dual timeline second chance romance.
Also, the lineup of April romance releases is absolutely STACKED (this is my “sports” as I like to say) and me and my TBR are readyyyyyyyy. Some of my most anticipated releases are: Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez, Funny Story by Emily Henry, When I Think of You by Myah Ariel, How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang, and Happy Medium by Sarah Adler.
So if you need me in April, please don’t. I’ll be readinggggg.
Okay that’s all for now! I’m fairly certain my next newsletter will be to reveal the cover for WEDDING DASHERS, so if you’re not subscribed be sure to do so!!!
Happy reading!!
